BRIEF: Authorities investigate body found in West Odessa

Ector County Sheriff's deputies reported finding a body in a vehicle in West Odessa connected to an "attempt to locate" call issued by the Odessa Police Department in September 2012, according to a news release from the Ector County Sheriff's Office.
"The vehicle appeared to have been there for some time," the release stated.
Sheriff Mark Donaldson said a call came in around 1:30 p.m. Friday reporting a body was found in a vehicle off of Interstate 20 near Moss Avenue and FM 866. The vehicle was in a field about a quarter mile east of Westcliff Road, the release stated, where it apparently came to rest after leaving the roadway. Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were contacted to work the accident.
Donaldson said he was not yet sure whether the body was a male or female.
The Sheriff's Office turned the case over to the OPD, the release stated.
Chief Investigator Shirley Standefer with the Ector County Medical Examiner's Office said little was known around 3:30 p.m. but did say her office would be requesting an autopsy.
