Prep hockey roundup: Storm'n Sabres upset falls short
SARTELL, Jan 27, 2013 (St. Cloud Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Erin Deters stopped 54 out of 55 shots in Sartell/Sauk Rapids' 1-0 loss to top-ranked Warroad at Bernick's Arena.
Kayla Gardner scored the only goal of the game for the Warriors 2:52 into the game with an assist by Demi Gardner.
The Storm'n Sabres finished with 15 shots on goal.
Roseau 3, St. Cloud 2
Gracie Olson's goal 6:47 into the third period was the winning goal in Roseau's nonconference victory against St. Cloud at the Municpal Athletic Complex.
Tatum Peterson opened the scoring at the 4:53 mark of the first period for the Icebreakers. The Rams scored one with a minute left in the first period and again 53 seconds into the second period.
Zayda Ewing tied the game at two with 6:20 left in the second for St. Cloud. Icebreakers goaltender Lucy Gaetz had 27 saves.
St. Cloud Tech 6, Coon Rapids 2
COON RAPIDS -- Tanner Skaja had his second hat trick of the season to lead Tech (12-6) to the win at the Coon Rapids Ice Center.
Joey Mendel, Braden Altena and Jake Peterson also scored goals for the Tigers. Peterson also had three assists and Austin Althaus made 18 saves in net to beat Coon Rapids (3-14-2).
Sauk Rapids 8, Proctor 2
SAUK RAPIDS -- Sophomore forward Travis Kothenbeutel scored two goals and assisted on three others as the Storm beat the Rails at Sports Arena East.
Wyatt Orth, Ross Chapa, Tyler Long, Blake Chapa, Brandon Duray and Mathew Meyer all scored goals for Sauk Rapids.
Will Mortenson made 22 saves in the net for the Storm.
Sartell 6, Windom 3
SARTELL -- Kyle Erickson had a pair of goals, and Spencer Zwiener, Aaron Randall and Matthew Ringhand each had a goal and an assist for the Sabres in their win over Windom.
Ethan Lorsung also scored for Sartell, whcih got 18 saves in net from Carter Kasianov.
Sartell had 48 shots on goal.
River Lakes 4, Litchfield/D-C 2
PAYNESVILLE -- Jake Herges had two goals and two assists as River Lakes beat Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Koronis Arena.
