BRIEF: How the Kings' championship banner was made

Jan 27, 2013 (Los Angeles Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Before the Kings hoisted their 2012 Stanley Cup banner to the rafters of Staples Center, the biggest decision they had was choosing a company to make it.

Luc Robitaille, the team's president of business operations, said the club decided to go with New England Banner & Flag in Watertown, Mass.

"It was important to us that we did the right banner for our fans," Robitaille said. "So we took our time to choose the right company and it was important for us to choose a company who had some history and for us to choose a company that showed our brand the right way." That led the Kings to Steve Viola in Watertown.

"They wanted to get the banner hanging over the ice with the idea that it was on the simpler side, just an old-school look to the banner, and we came up with a couple of designs for them, and once the designs were selected, here we are," Viola said.

So, enjoy the video and the making of the banner.
