Profile of China's software industry in 2012

Business revenue of China's software in
dustry surged 28.5 percent year on year to 2.5 trillion yuan in the wh
ole year of 2012 and the growth rate was 3.9 percentage points lower t
han that for the same period of 2012, according to a report released b
y the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In 2012, the software business revenue in western China grew rapidl
y, posting an increase of 29.6 percent year on year to 266.4 billion y
uan and the growth rate was 10.6 percentage points higher than the nat
ional average during the same period, while that in central China clim
bed at a slower pace with revenue of 79.4 billion yuan during the same
period.

China's software industry realized 36.8 billion US dollars in expor
ts in 2012, up 18 percent year on year and the growth rate was 0.5 per
centage points lower than that for the same period of 2011.
China's exports of software outsourcing service were up 13 percent
year on year.

In 2012, China's 15 sub-provincial cities have reaped operating tur
nover of 1.37 trillion yuan in the software business, up 31.4 percent
year on year, and the growth rate was 2.9 percentage points higher tha
n the national average during the same period.
Among the 15 sub-provincial cities, the growth rate of data process
ing & operating services reached 43.7 percent on year, and the growth
rate was 7.8 percentage points higher than the national average. (Ed
