PANAMA CITY BEACH -- The Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce has announced its continuing partnership with Southwest Airlines to help spur business.
Alison Hoefler, Southwest Airlines manager of community affairs and grassroots, will join with the beach chamber today to officially launch "IdeaWorks," a small-business initiative designed for business leaders to network and brainstorm with other like-minded individuals on business growth and development, the chamber noted.
"I like to think of these as 'impromptu think tanks' where guests will come to a comfortable, casual environment to network, learn how other professionals -- in their own words -- thrive in business, and they'll have an opportunity to speak and share their own wisdom and insights," said David Balmer of Carnegie Training of the Emerald Coast in a press release.
Since August of 2010, Southwest Airlines has been the presenting sponsor for the beach chamber's quarterly "Lunch & Learn" workshops.
The first quarterly Lunch & Learn workshop of the year will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Gulf Coast State College's dean's private dining room. Lisa and Shane Adams of Thrive Partnership will present "Think and Grow Rich -- It's about more than just money!"
The committee's inaugural IdeaCamp will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bay Point Wyndham's Kingfish Restaurant. This event is a forum where guests can learn, share and network in a comfortable setting. Everyone will have an opportunity to speak and contribute, according to the chamber.
An IdeaCamp will take the form of a "Business After Hours," but smaller, hosting around 25-40 people each time on Thursday evenings. Business After Hours are events when chamber members meet in informal gatherings at the end of the day.
Four or five speakers, 15 minutes each, share their own wisdom, stories and tips for business success, from sales and marketing to social networking, advertising, information.n technology, web development, hiring and management ideas and holding special events, according to the chamber
IdeaCamp is free for beach chamber members; $20 for nonmembers.
