BRIEF: Lunchtime Laugh: Engaged couple are unfit houseplant parents
Feb 01, 2013 (The Oregonian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Fans of Kate Hudson will recognize thematic similarities between today's Lunchtime Laugh and the actress's popular movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days."
In this short from comedic duo Jordan Klepper and Laura Grey, engaged couple Laura and Jordan ponder the shrunken mass of leaves that once was a thriving houseplant on their apartment bookshelf.
As they stare at the wilted remains, the pair wonder what their inability to keep a plant alive means for their projected success as parents.
"I'm gonna say it," Klepper says, " I don't think we're responsible enough to have a dog. ... This bookshelf would be a pile of puppy bones."
Grey agrees, and suggests the pair observe the plant's death in a ceremonious way.
"Should we say a few words " she asks. "Lay down some flowers "
After deciding a pile of cut flowers would be offensive to a plant, Jordan cuts through the somber mood by announcing "We're going to be great with a baby though! We'll rock with a baby."
