BRIEF: Modesto's Beyer High marks 40th anniversary

Past Beyer students, teachers and principals gathered at the school Saturday to share 40 years of memories, dig up a time capsule and launch a better way to keep in touch.
Organizer Doug Edwards said the Beyer High School Alumni Association Facebook page is up and running.
"We love our school and it's just realizing we do have a community here," Edwards said.
Ideas for the group include running a contest for a school fight song, tailgate parties at homecoming games and starting a Beyer hall of fame. Past principals recalled the innovative school's early days, when there were no-walls, modular-schedules, smoking areas set aside for students and not a computer in sight.
