The week that was: Eat'n Park's new Hello Bistro might open Downtown

Restaurant chain expands
The site of the former McDonald's restaurant at Wood Street and Forbes Avenue could soon be home to Hello Bistro, a spinoff from the Eat'n Park chain of restaurants. The prime Downtown property has been vacant for years and is owned by the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. Unlike Eat'n Park restaurants, Hello Bistros serve beer.
No privacy
If you have a feeling that someone is always watching you, you're right. PG reporter Deborah M. Todd reported there is no hope of privacy in a world where marketers, stalkers and government agencies are having a field day tracking us through our cell phones, computers and even our TVs. It seems the only way to go off the grid is to toss all of our high-tech toys, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike E-ZPasses and the in-car GPS units that are constantly downloading new maps and reporting the driver's location. You'll need to stay away from ATMs, too.
Good drivers pay more
The Washington, D.C.-based Consumer Federation of America released a new report showing that good drivers with no accidents on their record can end up paying higher premiums for automobile insurance because of factors that have nothing to do with their driving record, such as education and occupation.
Casino deal on track
The racetrack and casino envisioned for the west side of New Castle, Lawrence County, may be closer to reality now that developers say they are closer to a deal. An attorney for Endeka Entertainment said in a Jan. 25 letter that the company has made substantial progress in lining up financing for the project.
Stepping down
Embattled Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon announced that on April 1 he will retire from the company he helped turn into a natural gas powerhouse. A dark cloud had been hanging over Mr. McClendon since it was discovered last year that he had a controversial loan arrangement that allowed him to raise money against personal stakes in Chesapeake's gas wells.
