As well as jousting with Opposition leader Tony Abbott ahead of the Federal election, Prime Minister Julia Gillard will monitor the machinations of Kevin Rudd, whom she ousted in mid-2010. His supporters still hope that Rudd will challenge Gillard's leadership again. The caucus is split on whether the Prime Minister should have revealed the September 2013 election date so early. Her dumping of Rudd supporter Trish Crossin has been criticised by some.
