TruIT Enters Uganda Cyber Industry

(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Internet users will soon enjoy faster internet speeds with the entry of TruIT, a voice and data service provider onto the market.

TruIT is in partnership with the Abu Dhabi-based Yahsat, a subsidiary of the Mubadala group, the investment arm of the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is promising a satellite-based internet service that will offer customers uninterrupted and affordable internet solutions.

"Our company is coming in against a background of poor connectivity. We know that customers have issues of slow connections and intermittent breakdown of connections due to a number of issues that we are seeking to address with the latest technology we are bringing in the market," Moses Mubiru, TruIT's Chief Technical Officer, told The Observer.

Unlike terrestrial internet services that require costly infrastructure, satellite technology has an expansive geographic reach that is able to instantly provide connectivity to remote areas.

"Even the most remote areas of the region must have world-class quality communications and this requires affordable, high-speed connectivity that will lead to economic prosperity and educational opportunities," Mubiru said.

Its packages, according to Mubiru, have already been optimized for the voice over IP (VoIP) services like skype. Other packages include the pay per usage, which has been designed for clients that have running contracts with other internet service providers, enabling them to remain connected in case of connection breakdown. This is in addition to Yahclick Go, optimized for media houses.

Unlike the other packages where customers have to mount a small dish at their premises, with Yahclick go, a client will have an automated satellite dish fitted on his car enabling him to connect from any part of the country. The company is currently running tests.
