BRIEF: More copper, clamps stolen from electric substations in York Co.

New Horizon Electric Cooperative reported more copper thefts from its substations on Tuesday, about a week after employees found copper cables and clamps missing from a Clover substation.
The operations manager told police that sometime within the past three weeks, someone cut a portion of a York substation's fence and then stole between 10- 15 clamps that hold the grounding wire to the perimeter fence, according to a York County Sheriff's report. Thieves also cut copper wire off the substation, getting away with at least $750 worth of copper wiring and clamps.
The manager said "it was clear" the thieves knew what they were doing and were familiar with electric substations because they knew what to cut and what not to cut, the report states.
The manager told police that at least 15 more clamps were stolen from another Clover substation. The clamps were cut in the same fashion, the report states. The copper thieves got away with a reported $1,500 in copper wiring.
Last week, two New Horizon employees found that 150 feet of copper cable and 24 bronze clamps were stolen from a substation in Clover. Employees check the substation every two weeks, the report said.
