BRIEF: Council slated to approve certificates of obligation

GREENVILLE, Feb 09, 2013 (The Herald Banner - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The City of Greenville intends next week to issue more than $2 million in certificates of obligation to pay for multiple needed items.

The City Council is scheduled to take a formal vote to issue the certificates during Tuesday's regular session, starting at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street. A work session has also been set for 5 p.m. Tuesday.


The City of Greenville published a notice of the intent to issue the certificates for two consecutive weeks in the Herald-Banner.

Among the items which would be paid for through the issuance of no more than $2.5 million in certificates of obligation are $667,000 in improvements at the Animal Control Facility, $40,000 for renovations at Oak Creek Park, $150,000 for a training tower and mobile data terminals and software for the fire department and $890,000 for police records management software and a crime scene trailer for the police department.

The total also includes $131,000 for three mowers, and a batwing mower for the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as $426,000 for a gradall unit and a three-quarter ton truck for the Streets Department.
