Nine puts pressure on advertisers

The official TV ratings season began on 10 February 2013 in Australia. The day was marked by tensions between media buyers and clients about whether to support Ten Network, and disapproval of large advertising rate increases by Nine Network. Ad rates at Nine for the 25-54 age demographic are said to have risen by between eight and 10 per cent. Peter Horgan of OMD says higher rates are the only way Nine can post any gains following two years of discounting.
