The Fayetteville Observer, N.C., TV Diva column

Feb 12, 2013 (The Fayetteville Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- STATE OF THE UNION President Obama's second term is barely a month old, and it's time for the State of the Union address. The speech begins at 9 p.m. and will air on all the news networks and cable networks. According to Politico, White House aides say the speech will "bookend his inaugural address" from January. Politico also notes that several Democrats will bring guests affected by gun violence. One would expect that includes someone affiliated with the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Naturally, there will be lots of talk about the economy and jobs. Following the address, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who spoke at the Republican National Convention, will deliver the Republican response -- in English and Spanish.

'THE FACE' Just when you thought a modeling reality competition was so 2008, three supermodels are joining forces to bring us another competition to find -- drum roll, please -- "The Face." Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha will coach aspiring models (... la "The Voice") as they compete to become the face of Ulta Beauty. Campbell is going the Heidi Klum route by executive producing the show. Like "The Voice," the models will call on some of their famous friends and contacts in the industry to help their younger proteges. To advance each week, they'll have to do photo shoots, commercials and runway shows, but it will be a rival coach who will decide who goes home. Fans of "America's Next Top Model" should take note that the series is hosted by photographer Nigel Barker, who spent 18 seasons as a judge on that model competition show. 9 p.m. Oxygen and Bravo WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW When it comes to primping and looking pretty, some of you may prefer to watch these pooches work their magic at Madison Square Garden. A total of 2,721 dogs were entered, and in this second and final night of competition, one of them will be named Best in Show. Or what I like to call "America's Next Top Dog." 8 p.m. USA and WestminsterKennelClub.org.
