Capitol Scientific Marks 50th Anniversary
AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--
Capitol Scientific is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The
company has grown from a two-man operation to a rapidly expanding B2B
supplier of laboratory equipment and supplies, chemicals, safety
equipment and cleanroom products. This growth was noted by Inc Magazine,
which included Capitol Scientific in its Top 5000 Fastest Growing
Private Companies in both 2011 and 2012.
Lee Williams co-founded Capitol Scientific in 1963 as Chem Products,
Inc., a manufacturer of a pharmaceutical used in the manufacturing of
the original anti-histamines. The company rapidly evolved with the
awarding of distributorships from J.T. Baker, Eppendorf®, Corning (News - Alert)®,
Nalgene®, Whatman®, Wheaton, Barnstead, Thermolyne and more. The Capitol
Scientific name was adopted in 1972 to better represent the company's
scope of business.
In the 1990's, Capitol Scientific experienced agressive growth with
strategic sales and executive hires, expansion into the semiconductor
and biotech markets as well as the acquisition of multiple laboratory
equipment and specialty chemical distributorships. Lee Williams'
grandson, Felix Ware, joined the company in 1993 and assumed the
leadership role in the company's growth, strategy and expansion. In
2000, Mr. Ware purchased the company from his late grandfather.
As President and CEO, Mr. Ware has maintained a culture of innovation
and growth while delivering the highest quality service and products to
our customers. "My grandfather would be very proud of how far our
company has come," Mr. Ware says. "Fifty years ago, he started it all
with a vision that we here at Capitol Scientific remain committed to.
It's an honor to continue and build on the legacy he started: Bringing
quality products and exceptional service to our customers."
Family-owned since its inception, Capitol Scientific remains a market
leader and rapidly growing privately-held entity.
