Auction aims to liquidate Gettig equipment [Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.)]
(Centre Daily Times (State College, PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 15--On Thursday, Gettig Technologies Inc. will go to the auction block in attempts to sell equipment left over from its closing at the end of 2012.
The auction will start 9 a.m. through Greencastle-based Hurley Auctions and last all day at 1 Streamside Place, Spring Mills, according to the auctioneer.
"There is a tremendous amount of stuff," said Hurley Auctions owner Matt Hurley. "We'll have two or three auctioneers for this."
Gettig Inc. began in 1952 in Spring Mills as an engineering and manufacturing company that provided mass production quantities including design, prototype, tooling, modeling, assembly and packaging for other products and services. It included Gettig Engineering & Manufacturing, Gettig Pharmaceutical Instrument, Stelrema Corp., Beacon Tool Corp. and GPI Aviation.
All Gettig equipment and contents of its facilities will be auctioned four times throughout the year, Hurley said. The next auction, he said, will be held at the end of March, but only online. He said he expects 98 percent of content to be sold after the second auction.
These include sports and classic cars, vans and trailers, trucks, heavy equipment, tools, manufacturing equipment, injection molding systems, clean room assemblies, lab sterilizers, equipment packaging and more.
Hurley added that the other two auctions would take place in Indiana in attempts to sell two Gettig Inc. properties in Knox and Angola, Ind.
