BRIEF: Craigslist meeting leads to armed home robbery in Hayward

HAYWARD, Feb 16, 2013 (The Daily Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man looking to sell his car through Craigslist was tied up in his home and robbed at gunpoint Friday night, police said.

The victim called police to report the incident at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Carlos Bee Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. Friday after he freed himself from being tied up, said Hayward police Lt. Antonio Puente.

The man told police he met two men in the parking lot to discuss selling his vehicle. The armed men then followed him to his apartment, tied him up and robbed him. Details on what was stolen were not immediately available, but the man said they did not take his car.

The thieves -- described as black males, both 5 foot, 8 inches tall in their early 20s, one with a stalky build wearing a red sweatshirt and the other bald with a thin build -- were last seen leaving the complex on foot. No vehicle description was provided.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Hayward Police at 510-293-7000.
