Harlem Shake makes WW appearance

WALLA WALLA -- Harlem Shake, the latest viral video dance craze, has already had one locally produced version released on YouTube and a second is expected to go online today.
On Saturday, about 60 youths, many of them Walla Walla High School students, produced their own rendition of the Harlem Shake in Land Title Plaza at 1 p.m.
The youths were dressed is numerous zany outfits that included a werewolf, a beach bum, the Burger King king, bare-chested wrestlers, super heroes, a Cheerios box-head guy, pajama wearers and numerous other costumes.
Harlem Shake is a 30-second dance video broken into two 15-second takes.
In the first take, one oddly dressed character dances in the middle of a sane crowd (but not always sane).
Then in the second take, pandemonium follows as everyone is wearing costumes and dancing to the beat of "Harlem Shake," by Baauer.
Saturday's event was organized and produced by Wa-Hi student Wiley Townsend, who said he will have the finished video available on YouTube, posted through his "Wiley Townsend" YouTube account.
Whitman College students beat Townsend by two days, posting a climbing wall version on Feb. 15.
People interested in viewing the various Harlem Shake viral videos should be advised that some contain video images that could be considered offensive.
