BRIEF: Fire in Plainfield destroys Greggo barn converted into apartments
Feb 17, 2013 (The Morning Call (Allentown - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
An early-morning blaze Sunday in Plainfield Township destroyed an apartment building owned by Greggo Farms, family members said.
The building on 1508 Pen Argyl Road, a former barn converted into three separate apartments, housed eight adults and two children. Several of them were members of the Greggo family.
One resident was treated for smoke inhalation but the others were unharmed. A dog did perish in the fire, according to Marisa Greggo.
"It's a total loss," Greggo said of the building.
Greggo said it's unclear how the fire started. Fire officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m.
The American Red Cross Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter said it is assisting the 10 people displaced by the fire. The Red Cross has provided lodging to one of the families who lived there and has supplied the residents with food and clothing.
