Craig newspaper publisher joins Tribune staff as ad director
Feb 16, 2013 (Greeley Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Bryce Jacobson has joined The Tribune as its new advertising director.
He replaces David Thiemann, who was recently named customer marketing manager for The Tribune's parent company, Swift Communications.
Jacobson, 35, comes to The Tribune from the Craig Daily Press, where he was publisher for seven years. He will live in Eaton.
He said it's exciting to concentrate on one area of a newspaper's business.
"I'm excited to focus on one department rather than the newspaper as a whole," Jacobson said. "I enjoy helping people be successful, and I hope to help the staff be successful and grow professionally."
Bart Smith, publisher of The Tribune, said he was happy to bring someone of Jacobson's caliber to The Tribune.
"His experience in leading and building successful publications and websites will be of a great benefit to The Tribune, as well as for our customers and partners in the community," Smith said. "As incoming president of the board of the Colorado Press Association, Bryce has statewide contacts and a thorough understanding of the latest in best practices in advertising, marketing and branding."
Jacobson said Greeley and Craig are not unlike in their hometown atmospheres, which he prefers. He grew up in Sterling.
The move also gives him a chance to be closer to his mother and sister, who live in Greeley .
"I'm a small-town boy and I like small towns," Jacobson said.
As a kid, he'd travel to Greeley for his school clothes, and he said he's always looked up to The Tribune.
Before going to the Daily Press in Craig, he was the zone manager for the Denver Newspaper Agency; and a circulation director in Scottsbluff, Neb. He's a graduate of Sterling High School.
Smith said The Tribune will miss Thiemann and his many talents.
"Fortunately, in his new role with parent company, Swift Communications, he will continue to work out of our Greeley and Windsor offices and we will be able to seek his advice on a regular basis," Smith said.
Jacobson can be reached at (970) 392-4406 or email@example.com.
Thiemann will be based in Windsor. Call him at (970) 392-4430.
