Sprint Nextel Q4 net loss up

Sprint Nextel Corporation, a provider of wireless and wireline communications products and services, has reported that net loss for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012 was $1.32 billion, or $0.44 loss per share, compared to a net loss of $1.3 billion, or $0.43 loss per share, for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2011.
Net operating revenues for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012 were $9 billion, compared to $8.72 billion, for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2011.
Net loss for the year ended December 31, 2012 was $4.32 billion, or $1.44 loss per share, compared to a net loss of $2.89 billion, or $0.96 loss per share, for the year ended December 31, 2011.
Net operating revenues for the year ended December 31, 2012 were $35.34 billion, compared to $33.68 billion, for the year ended December 31, 2011.
Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO, said: "Sprint's strong performance was fueled by record wireless service revenue on the Sprint platform due to year-over-year postpaid ARPU growth and Sprint platform net additions. As a result, quarterly Adjusted OIBDA performance improved year-over-year in spite of significant cost increases related to Network Vision and the iPhone, both of which are key investments for our business that we expect will improve the customer experience and lead to growth in the years ahead."
