China Mobile to participate Barcelona World Mobile Congress
BEIJING, Feb 19, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China Mobile (CHL.NYSE;
00941.HK), the country's largest telecom operator, announced Monday
it would participate this year's World Mobile Congress (WMC) in
Barcelona, Spain, and exhibit its products and services.
Qiu Hong, vice general manager of the brand promotion office
of market operation department, China Mobile, said it would be the
first time for the Chinese telecom giant to participate the
exhibition of the WMC and the company would center on TD-LTE, Mobile
Market, and wireless city.
According to China Mobile, there are currently 14 TD-LTE
commercial networks and 64 trial networks across the world.
Meanwhile, the telecom operator's cell-phone application store Mobile
Market boasted 240 million users by December 2012 and was capable of
offering more than 1 million applications.
In addition, the carrier would roll out near field
communication (NFC) services in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu,
Guangzhou, Changsha, and other major Chinese cities in 2013 and the
company had reached cooperation agreements with buses and subways in
