Apps and email aside, working at home not a good idea, says Google

Feb 19, 2013 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Patrick Pichette, CFO at web search engine group Google, is visiting Australia. He told an audience in Sydney on 18 February 2013 that the US-based company does not encourage telecommuting, a stance that appears to be out of step with its focus on the internet. However, Pichette said that Google believes direct interaction between staff is crucial to innovation and the creative process. The Australian Government is championing telecommuting and aims to lift the rate in the civil service from 4% to 12% of staff.
