BRIEF: Fire destroys log home

Fire destroyed the two-story log home of a Holmes County family early Wednesday morning, according to Esto Volunteer Fire Department Chief Thomas Murphy.
All four family members were at home when the fire was discovered around 2:30 a.m., and a member of the household called for help.
The fire also heavily damaged an SUV owned by the family, Sherrie and Matthew Perry and two children.
When firefighters from the primary fire team arrived from Esto, the house was fully engulfed, Murphy said. Graceville, Cottondale and Bonifay volunteers also responded, but the house and vehicle could not be saved. The home is about 10 miles from the Jackson County line.
Murphy said no preliminary cause or point of origin for the fire has been established and that it continues to be under routine investigation.
The home and some of its wooden contents were built by Matthew Perry and the structure was only a few years old.
