Tokyo Game Show 2013 to be held Sept. 19-22
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Feb. 21 -- (Kyodo) _ The Tokyo Game Show 2013, the world's largest expo for the video game industry, will be held from Sept. 19 to 22, with high expectations of attracting many visitors especially from Asia, the organizer said Thursday.
The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association said it aims to offer business opportunities at the annual event for new game makers and young experts in Japan, as well as Southeast Asian countries -- where the development of social networking games and those for smartphones are picking up.
As part of efforts to boost the industry, the association said booths specifically for newly established firms will be set up for the first time.
The organizer also said it plans to hold events for costume players -- fans dressed as characters from Japanese "anime" cartoons and video games -- in Thailand, Malaysia and in Myanmar ahead of the expo to promote the show.
This year's four-day event is expected to draw about 200,000 visitors. Last year a record 223,753 visitors flocked to the show.
