Noser Engineering AG and Continental Automotive Switzerland to Develop Android Instrumentation Dashboard for the microMax [Travel & Leisure Close - Up]
(Travel & Leisure Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Noser Engineering AG joined Continental Automotive Switzerland AG to co-develop a range of Android based dashboard instrumentation, which provides telemetry data and a contexual driving experience for the new microMax 'car-to-go-with-the-app' concept from Rinspeed AG.
According to a release, Noser Engineering AG announced its collaboration with Rinspeed AG and Continental Automotive Switzerland AG on a range of Android based dashboard instrumentation which provides telemetry data and a contextual driving experience in the new microM A X automobile premiering at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show.
Noser Engineering contributed the software for the interactive cluster element inside the microMax. This element is used to provide added value to the driver through specifically fitted instrument displays with touch controls. Fully configurable and expandable, the Android based software supports various input sources and formats. The presentation of any kind of input signal (CAN bus, USB, Bluetooth, touch events, general I/O) can be adapted to the customers' needs via a simple configuration language. The system is aware of the state of the vehicle (halted, driving, etc.) which can be used to offer contexual information. The same mechanism is also used to alert the driver, for example, when energy is running low.
"The friendly instrumentation dashboard inside the microMAX provides the driver with an interactive, contextual experience central to Rinspeed's 'car-to-go-with-the-app' concept," said Frank M. Rinderknecht, CEO, Rinspeed AG. "Rinspeed set out to revolutionize short-distance transport and urban traffic with the microMax and are pleased to have partners such as Noser Engineering AG on board."

The new microMax by Rinspeed AG will be on exhibit at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show from March 7-17, to the general public.
