CalPERS to Host Information Technology (IT) Career Fair to Seek Prospective Applicants
(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SACRAMENTO, Calif., Feb. 21 -- The California Public Employees Retirement System issued the following news release:
The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced that its Information Technology Services Branch will host an IT Career Fair to educate attendees about job opportunities at CalPERS and employment with the State of California.
The IT Career Fair will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the CalPERS Lincoln Plaza West Atrium, located at 400 Q Street in Sacramento, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Current information technology professionals, recent college graduates, and college students nearing graduation are encouraged to attend. CalPERS is seeking applicants with a wide variety of skills to fill approximately 100 jobs in a range of IT disciplines. Many of the new positions will replace outside consultants currently used by CalPERS and result in a savings of $8.6 million to the organization.
"This is an excellent opportunity for practitioners at any level of IT to come see what CalPERS has to offer and learn about the State hiring process," said Douglas Hoffner, Deputy Executive Officer for Operations and Technology at CalPERS. "Our IT team fosters an environment of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and community. We're looking for dedicated professionals willing to accept the challenge of managing the IT needs of an enterprise with more than 2,400 employees and nearly 1.6 million members. We offer a challenging job environment and the resources to grow both professionally and personally."
The IT Career Fair will provide attendees with an excellent opportunity to interact with CalPERS IT managers and to network with other IT professionals. CalPERS Human Resources Division staff also will be available to answer general questions related to the State hiring process.
