BRIEF: Highway 108 reopens
JAMESTOWN, Feb 22, 2013 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A stretch of Highway 108 that was closed Tuesday morning after an eastbound tanker truck jackknifed and overturned, spilling about 1,200 gallons of gasoline, was reopened Thursday afternoon.
But crews have placed concrete barriers along the two-lane road's north shoulder for their protection as they continue to remove dirt contaminated by the gasoline.
The California Highway Patrol said the driver was traveling too fast for the conditions when he crashed.
It was a solo-vehicle accident, and the driver was not hurt.
The CHP had detours in place for highway motorists.
