BRIEF: Va. Beach schools superintendent to chat online
Feb 22, 2013 (The Virginian-Pilot - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
VIRGINIA BEACH -- Schools Superintendent James Merrill will hold a webchat at noon Thursday in response to his state of the schools address Wednesday night.
This year the annual speech is titled "Future Focus: For Children's Sake." Merrill was expected to speak about increasing pressure on Virginia public schools from funding issues and government mandates, and how the city's schools are responding through their strategic plan.
He will address those issues and the future of Virginia Beach City Public Schools in the online question-and-answer session at VirginiaBeachBeacon.com.
Members of the public may submit questions during the chat, but also are encouraged to send them in advance to Pilot writer Elisabeth Hulette at elisabeth.hulette@pilotonline.com. She will moderate the discussion.
