A former Johns Hopkins University gynecologist who lost his job after he was accused of photographing his patients illegally was found dead Monday morning in an apparent suicide.
Nikita Levy was discovered in his Baltimore County home at 7:14 a.m. Monday, according to county police.
Johns Hopkins received reports two weeks ago that Levy was illegally photographing his patients and possibly others with his personal photo and video equipment. The university reported the findings to the Baltimore City Police Department and ended Levy's employment Feb. 8, offering him counseling services, according to university spokeswoman Kim Hoppe.
Johns Hopkins and the police will continue to investigate.
Officer-involved shooting leaves 1 dead in Alexandria
An officer-involved shooting has left one man dead in Alexandria.
Police spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said officers were responding to a domestic dispute call at a residence on the 3400 block of Duke Street near Quaker Lane about 2 p.m. Monday when the incident occurred.
There was a disagreement among residents that prompted a man carrying a weapon to approach officers at the scene, Hildebrandt said.
No other information was immediately available.
Woman found dead in fire
A woman was found dead Monday when fire officials were called to an apartment fire in Fairfax County. Investigators are calling the death a homicide.
The fire started about 6:10 a.m. on the 12000 block of Waterside View Drive in Reston.
Officials said a neighbor saw smoke coming from a second-story apartment and called authorities, who then forced their way in. They found the unidentified victim who police said had trauma to her upper body.
County police and fire departments continue to investigate.
