AVG Technologies CEO J.R. Smith to Deliver Keynote Speech at Mobile Security Forum
AMSTERDAM & SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--
AVG
Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the provider of Internet and mobile
security to 146 million active users, will today host a panel discussion
at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). Entitled "Consumer Mobility and Privacy:
Monetization without Alienation," the session will discuss the
challenges faced by vendors and service companies as they look to
capitalize on consumer mobility whilst maintaining consumer privacy.
With more mobile-connected devices than people now on the earth,
companies are faced with a huge commercial opportunity. However, more
and more consumers wise up to their movements being tracked through
their devices and therefore users are becoming more concerned about
their online privacy.
J.R. Smith, CEO of AVG Technologies and co-author of the book Wide
Open Privacy: Strategies for the Digital Life, will provide his
thoughts on consumers' mobility and privacy before being joined on a
panel by a number of mobile industry experts.
"Privacy is the biggest issue facing the mobile community, and one that
must be tackled first and foremost in order to capitalize on mobile
growth," said J.R. Smith, CEO of AVG Technologies. "As mobile technolgy
becomes increasingly sophisticated and companies develop even more
features and functionality, ensuring widespread adoption of these new
features will rest on consumer attitudes towards privacy. If privacy
isn't addressed, vendors risk consumer backlash. The industry needs to
come together to find a self-regulating solution before one with the
highest levels of restrictions is imposed on it."
Today's session materials will be available at AVG
Media Center
The panel session will take place today (25th Feb 2013)
between 14:00 - 15:15 in Theatre A of the Hall 8.0 at Mobile World
Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
