BRIEF: Tokay of Lodi wins Central Valley science bowl
MODESTO, Feb 24, 2013 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Tokay High School of Lodi won the 2013 Central Valley Regional High School Science Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Enochs High of Modesto hosted 24 four-student teams from Central California high schools for the all-day competition, sponsored by the Department of Energy.
Coming in second was Mount Whitney High School of Visalia. Coach Dan Iverson led two Enochs teams to four wins and one loss in the round-robin morning rounds.
Enochs, Lincoln of Stockton and Tokay each advanced two teams to the double-elimination rounds of the afternoon competition.
The Enochs Gold Team placed fourth overall, losing only two matches.
Tokay next heads to the National Science Bowl finals April 25-29 in Washington, D.C.
