AMD very excited about PS4 - News [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) With the dust settling on Sony's new PlayStation 4 announcement , AMD seems to be very pleased with the results. Not only are they powering the current Wii U with their Radeon HD 'Latte' graphics chip, but also the entire CPU and GPU architecture of the PS4. The 8-core 'Jaguar' APU was co-developed with Sony themselves for the CPU architecture of the PS4, while an unnamed next-generation GPU will be powering the graphics front for a total of almost 2 TFLOPS. " In fact, the PS4 is the first announced design win based on semi-custom AMD APUs ," wrote AMD in their blog post , indicating that indeed the next-generation Xbox will also have a custom APU inside it. JohnTaylor, VP of Global Communications further writes, " This is going to be a very exciting year for gamers, especially for those with AMD hardware in their PCs and consoles, as we have even more game-changing (pun intended) announcements still to come ." Does this mean that AMD is working so closely with developers for console releases that the benefits will be seen on their desktop and laptop graphics cards as well More information will be out next month during the Games Developer Conference where AMD will talk about how they have collaborated with various industry devs on upcoming next-generation games.   Taimoor Hafeez (follow on twitter) When I'm not burning up hardware in the name of science, you'll find me nuking in DOTA 2 or engineering in TF2.
