Schnake Turnbo Frank-PR, Phill Cooper top Addy Awards list [Tulsa World, Okla.]
(Tulsa World (OK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 24-- Publications firm Schnake Turnbo Frank-PR and longtime Tulsa graphic designer Phill Cooper won the top honors at the recent 2013 Addy Awards banquet at the IDL Ballroom.
Cooper won the prestigious Silver Addy, and Schnake Turnbo Frank-PR won the Eddy for continuous community service and its lifetime contributions to the advertising/communications industry.
Cooper, who began his career some 40 years ago as creative director for the communications department at Oral Roberts University, worked as head of the graphic art department for Hinkle Brown Bloyed, followed by a stint at Brothers & Company prior to launching his own company, Cooper Design, in 1991.
He has won multiple local, regional and national creative awards, including several for the International Fairs & Expositions competition, which showcases advertising campaigns for the top state fairs in the world.
Founded in 1970, Schnake Turnbo Frank has now grown to more than 20 full-time employees with offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The firm is a supporter of the Tulsa community with its employees serving on 105 nonprofit boards over the past five years.
Schnake Turnbo Frank was also named one of six 2012 finalists for the nationwide "Small PR Firm of the Year" and was nominated in 2010 for the same award.
Other winners were Brothers & Company with more than 20 overall awards, including six Addys.
In the student category, The Ad Program at The University of Tulsa won seven awards for its 2012 National Student Advertising Competition campaign for Nissan, entitled "What Nissan Are You Wearing." TU graphic design student Spencer Everett was awarded "Best In Show" in the student print category.
More than 225 local advertising, media and PR professionals attended, with 47 Citations of Excellence and Addys being awarded.
