CCM Hockey and the "Speed Freak" showcase the highly anticipated RBZ skate
QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 24, 2013, 2013 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
CCM Speed Camp provides international pee-wee caliber players with a
one-of-a-kind opportunity to try-on the RBZ before its release with Besa "The Speed Freak" Tsintsadze
Today, legendary hockey
equipment manufacturer CCM launched its first ever CCM Speed Camp in
Quebec City, with over 60 select pee-wee level players from all over
the globe. With the city once again hosting the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, CCM gave the opportunity to a few local and European players to join
the brand's power-skating clinic and be the first to tear up the ice in
the soon-to-be-released CCM RBZ skate.
Besa Tsintsadze, current skating consultant for the Boston Bruins, was on the ice for a
freakishly fast power skating demonstration that left both Speed Camp
partakers and fans in awe. The Russian "Speed Freak" previously acted
as a speed coach for NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Pavel Datsyuk.
The CCM Speed Camp is a five-hour takedown of the hockey brand's Skills
Camp, which usually takes place over a full day. Last year's Skills
Camps were very well received - CCM predicts it will double its number
of participants to 2,500 for 2013. "We wanted to offer the same kind of
experience to these kids in a condensed format and coach them through
unique on and off-ice sessions so they can literally become better
hockey players within a few hours. Hockey is no longer all about being
in the rink; players also need to know how to train and eat properly in
order to reach that next level. CCM takes pride in helping these kids
attain their goals while offering them high-quality products to
facilitate that," said Glen Thornborough, Vice President of Global
Marketing for Reebok-CCM Hockey.
Today marked the first time the new RBZ skate was in the public eye
before it becomes available at retail later in the year. The RBZ skate
promises Speed to the Extreme with the help of new innovative technologies, such as the new
SpeedBlade + 4.0 holder. Created to help provide extreme speed, this
revolutionary blade holder increases turning radius by up to 10% for
one of the most aggressive angles of attack in hockey. "The all new CCM
RBZ skate, designed in conjunction with some of today's best young
superstars in hockey such as Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins,
was developed to provide elite players with one thing… extreme
speed! The RBZ has amazing new technologies such as a composite boot
and a brand new holder that will satisfy the most demanding skaters in
the world," said Philippe Dubé, President and CEO of Reebok-CCM Hockey.
CCM's SpeedCore technology also found its way into the skate, adding pro-level
stiffness to maximize reaction speed and explosiveness. All new custom
insoles for low, medium or high-arched feet provide full contact
between the foot and the skate, stimulating greater reaction in the
foot muscles for enhanced speed on the ice.
The CCM RBZ skate will be available later in 2013. For additional
