BRIEF: Gun buyback nets 326 firearms, including two assault rifles

More than 300 guns were surrendered Saturday during the "Safe Surrender" gun buyback event in the South Valley.
The event, hosted by Bernalillo County and Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers, netted two assault rifles, 175 handguns and nearly 150 long guns like rifles and shotguns, according to a news release.
In total, 326 guns were turned over to be destroyed. During the first buyback event in the beginning of February, slightly more than 300 guns were surrendered.
Folks who gave up their firearms received gift cards at different values. More than $41,000 was doled in exchange for the weapons.
The Saturday event was the last scheduled buyback.
