TÜV SÜD Certification to Confirm LDRA's Sound Certification Practices and Tools
NÜRNBERG, Germany --(Business Wire)--
LDRA announced that the company has started TÜV SÜD review and
certification process to verify that the LDRA tool suite is fully
qualified to validate software applications for industrial
safety (IEC 61508), automotive
(ISO 26262), and rail
(EN 50128). This validation extends LDRA's long-standing commitment
to provide high-quality software testing solutions. TÜV SÜD validation
confirms best practices and standard compliance, providing customers
with an additional level of assurance and confidence in their higher
risk, safety-critical software development.
TÜV SÜD, an internationally renowned and independent consulting,
testing, certification and training corporation, test and certify
industrial plants, consumer products and health and safety services to
ensure products function safely and in compliance with official
standards. LDRA,
the leading provider of automated software verification, source code
analysis and test tools, has submitted the LDRA
tool suite and its IEC (News - Alert) 61508, ISO 26262, and EN 50128 certification
tools for testing. Validation of full compliance is anticipated by Q2
2013.
This TÜV SÜD certification builds o the ISO 9001:2008 certification
already achieved by LDRA in its forty year advocacy for better quality
software and development. During the ISO 9001 evaluation, LDRA's
products and processes were fully examined and LDRA was certified to
have a Quality Management System in place for its development,
maintenance, and support. Over the years, LDRA has been directly
involved in various safety standards such as DO-178, ISO C, MISRA
C and MISRA C++. And, the LDRA tool suite is designed to help
customers comply with safety standards and coding rules for a broad
range of standards, including DO-178B/C,
IEC 61508, ISO 26262, MISRA-C:2004, MISRA AC and MISRA-C++:2008.
TÜV SÜD to Confirm LDRA Tools Prove Certification Compliance
In their latest editions, the functional safety standards?IEC 61508, EN
50128 and ISO 26262?take into account the increasing deployment of tools
in software application development and explicitly require these tools
to be qualified. TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH is currently assessing the LDRA tool
suite against the IEC 61508, EN 50128 and ISO 26262 standards. The
evaluation will examine the quality and compliance of the software
development processes and Functional Safety Management to the given
standards. TÜV SÜD will assess the suitability of the LDRA tools and
their associated user documentation to support developers in
safety-critical industries to achieve certification.
LDRA's TÜV SÜD Certification to Benefit Developers
"With the demand for certification by industries groups and governments
increasing, companies must ensure that their processes and the tools
they use to help them achieve certification are fully compliant,"
confirmed Ian Hennell, LDRA Operations Director. "TÜV SÜD plays an
important role in ensuring the design, development and global approval
of technologies in safety-related fields. The proving of LDRA's tools
complements our forty years of experience helping customers achieve
safety-critical certification."
Once review is complete and LDRA products and processes are found
compliant, LDRA will be authorised to differentiate its products with
the TUV mark. The TÜV SÜD certification process demonstrates:
-
Compliance with necessary legislation
-
On-going surveillance in production
-
Specific claims about the performance of the product
