BRIEF: San Jose State football player Chandler Jones glad to support Sit Down, Speak Out anti-bullying campaign
SAN JOSE, Feb 26, 2013 (The Oakland Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
San Jose State wide receiver Chandler Jones said he felt "honored" to be part of filming a public service announcement that speaks out against bullying.
The short video, made as part of a school project by a friend of Jones, supports the initiative of Sit Down, Speak Out, a bullying awareness group that asks people to sign an online pledge to not bully others.
"It was just about talking to kids and telling them how bullying affects kids growing up and it's not something to joke around with," said Jones, a senior wide receiver.
Senior linebacker Keith Smith, who is Jones' roommate, was also involved in the filming of the video along with Keenan Brown, a senior tight end on the 2012 team.
"I felt honored because it gives you a chance to talk to the youth and kind of get in their head to let them know that's something you don't want to grow up doing and you don't want to be bullied yourself," Jones said.
Jones plans to attend a viewing on Tuesday evening of the documentary, "Bully," at 6 p.m. at Morris Dailey Auditorium on the SJSU campus. That event, put on by Sit Down, Speak out, also will include a panel discussion about bullying.
