ERI and Girl Up New York Regional Coalition Announce E-Waste Collection Event Sites in Manhattan Area

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation's leading recycler of electronic waste, and the Girl Up New York Regional Coalition have announced a series of free electronic waste collection and recycling events for local Manhattan residents. Each of the events will take place at a local Manhattan school where profits from the collection, reconditioning and resale of electronics collected will benefit Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation.

The multi-site event will be held from March 4-9 at the following Manhattan schools:

Brearley School, 610 East 83^rd St.
Grace Church School, 46 Cooper Square
Hewitt School, 45 East 75 St
Nightingale-Bamford School, 20 East 92^nd St
Notre Dame School, 327 West 13^th St.
Sacred Heart School, 1 East 91^st St
Spence School, 22 East 91^st St

At all participating schools, unwanted cell phones, tablets, notebooks, laptops and small gaming devices will be collected. Students at each school will collect the items and pack into boxes provided by ERI. Collected materials will be shipped to ERI for environmentally appropriate processing and remarketing.

Through Girl Up, the profits from all refurbished and resold items will go directly to help girls go to school, see a doctor, and stay safe from violence.

"Through ERI collection drives, Girl Up supporters will be able to fundraise without making a monetary donation," said Sofia Stafford, a Hewitt School student and one of the key organizers ofthe events, "something that can be challenging for youth."
