Aldi holding hiring event Friday for new Aberdeen store [The Record, Bel Air, Md.]
(Record, The (Bel Air, MD) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 27--Aldi Supermarket will hold a hiring event Friday in Aberdeen in preparation for the opening of its new store later this year.
The hiring event will be held from 6 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express, 1007 Beards Hill Road in Aberdeen.
Aldi is looking to fill positions such as cashier, shift manager and manager trainee, the company said in a media advisory for the event. Pay rates quoted in the advisory are $12 hourly for cashier, $16.25 hourly for shift manager and $25 per hour for manager trainee.
Applicants must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, must be available to work between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., and will be required to have drug screening and a background check, according to the advisory.
Prior retail experience is preferred for all positions, with management experience preferred for manager trainees.
The new Aberdeen Aldi will be at 744 S. Philadelphia Blvd. A representative of the company's public relations company said Wednesday the new store is slated to open late this summer.
Last year, a representative of the discount grocery chain told Aberdeen city officials the Aberdeen Aldi will have 20 to 30 employees and the new store's design will be different from the company's other Harford County store in Edgewood and the first such design for Aldi in this region.
