Regenerative Medicine Now Being Offered at Leading Mesa AZ Pain Management Clinic, Arizona Pain Specialists

The leading pain clinic in the East Valley, Arizona Pain Specialists, is now offering regenerative medicine with platelet rich plasma therapy. Platelet rich plasma is fairly new in pain management and orthopedics, but has a long history in other medical areas such as urology, wound care, and ophthalmology. Multiple major sports leagues in the US approve of its use, and the World Anti-Doping Agency has approved too.
Quite a few athletes have undergone PRP treatment, including Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, Dwight Howard, Hines Ward and Troy Polamolu. The treatment has been showing significant promise and good results in smaller studies for tendonitis, ligament injuries, soft tissue inflammatory conditions like tennis elbow and most recently, degenerative arthritis.
Multiple smaller studies have shown promising results, with the theory being that PRP actually repairs tissue, as opposed to simply masking pain. The treatment is performed as an outpatient, and takes about an hour overall. Currently insurance does not cover the treatment, but it is very reasonable as an out of pocket expense.
