Parolee who ditched GPS tracking device is in custody [The Tribune (San Luis Obispo, Calif.)]
(Tribune (San Luis Obispo, CA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 28--UPDATE 3 p.m. Friday: Authorities have captured the felon who tampered with his GPS tracking device Wednesday while on parole, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office announced.
Around 1 p.m. Friday, Ronald Digarolamo, 43, was detained on Tally Ho Road by the Arroyo Grande Police Department.
He has been returned to the custody of the Sheriff's Office, the news release said.
Discarding his GPS device was a violation of his parole terms, which required him to wear the device at all times.
Original story: The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a man who violated the terms of his parole.
On Wednesday, investigators were notified that a GPS tracking device being worn by Ronald Digirolamo had been tampered with, Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Cipolla said Thursday in a news release. Digirolamo had been released from jail on sheriff's parole after serving time for felony domestic violence.
Deputies found the device in the Grover Beach area, Cipolla said. Authorities determined that Digirolamo discarded the device and walked away undetected.
Digirolamo, 43, is a transient who is not considered a danger to the community, according to the news release. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
