Winegard launches new HDTV antenna [The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa]
(Hawk Eye, The (Burlington, IA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 03--Winegard recently launched a new amplified version of its high-tech, over-the-air indoor HDTV antenna called the FlatWave Amped. The multi-directional amplified antenna draws in dual band (VHF/UHF) HDTV broadcast signals up to 50 miles away.
"This newest member of our patented FlatWave HDTV antenna family is the best one yet," said Grant Whipple, Winegard's national sales manager. "We have set a new standard for amplifier performance, and the Amped is the first antenna to utilize this technology. The Amped is one of very few indoor dual-band antennas on the market, which means consumers don't have to miss out on a major network that other UHF-only indoor antennas may experience.
"Designed with our revolutionary clear circuit technology, the embedded amplifier is able to amplify 100 percent of the signal at the antenna to maximize channel reception and minimize pixilation and dropouts for the best viewing experience possible, something inline amplifiers can't achieve," said Whipple.
This is known as pre-amplification, which Winegard founder John Winegard developed more than 50 years ago.
The new amplifier technology lowers the noise floor to an unprecedented 1.0 decibel typical, which is 200 percent to 400 percent lower than competing amplifiers. That translates to antenna performance that matches an antenna two to three times larger and provides crystal clear HDTV pictures.
The razor-thin FlatWave Amped measures just 13 inches by 12 inches and comes with an 18.5-foot white coaxial cable and an embedded digital amplifier that delivers the same high- quality, free true HDTV picture of the original. FlatWave Amped is available online directly from Winegard at www.GetFreeTV.com.
Weighing in at just over 2 ounces, FlatWave Amped is black on one side and white on the other so it fits into virtually any home decor. It's as easy to install as connecting the coaxial cable to a flat-screen HDTV, hanging the Amped on a window or a wall, plugging in the energy saving USB power cable, and running a simple channel scan. It takes less than five minutes to install in any room of a home.
Consumers can get all the top-rated broadcast TV shows for free in 1080 high definition, the best picture quality available. Another feature is it supplements cable or satellite TV services, or can replace them altogether.
The FlatWave Amped picks up free TV from all the major local broadcast networks, such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and PBS, plus additional networks like Qubo, ION, The CW, Universal Sports and regional weather and sports that paid programming may not provide.
A special edition translucent FlatWave Amped antenna is available exclusively at Costco. More FlatWave antenna products are in development by Winegard and set for introduction in 2013.
All FlatWave models are made in the USA and soon will be available at www.Amazon.com.
