RM4 to park at Gombak LRT station for March [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]
(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: COMMUTERS can enjoy a RM4 flat rate parking for the whole of this month at the newly opened park-n-ride complex at the Gombak Light Rail Transit station.
Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd chairman Tan Sri Ismail Adam, who said this at the launch of the six-storey complex yesterday, said they would, however, have to use the MyRapid smart card.
This is because the park-n-ride facility uses a cash-less parking management system.
"The complex has 1,260 parking bays and is equipped with the Parking Guidance System which provides information on the number of vacant lots to drivers, closed-circuit television cameras, lifts and panic buttons.
"The car park also has 58 dedicated lots for women drivers and 24 for the disabled, both located on the ground floor."
He also said that the parking rate after the promotional period had yet to be finalised. The complex, which was opened to the public last month, has seen high occupancy.
The complex was opened by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha. Present were Land Public Transport Commission chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar and Prasarana managing director Datuk Shahril Mokhtar.
Other park-n-ride facilities are being built in the Klang Valley as part of the National Key Result Area for urban public transportation, with several expected to be completed by year-end.
He said the parking facility along with other facilities, including pedestrian walkway and efficient feeder bus service, would encourage more people to use public transport.
The park-n-ride facilities being built are at the KTM stations in Serdang and Shah Alam, Ampang LRT station, Kelana Jaya LRT station, ERL Salak Tinggi and Klang KTM station.
