Unisys introduces new VoiceSource Express solutions
Mar 04, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) --
Unisys Corporation, a provider of messaging solutions to the telecommunications services providers, has announced the two newest members of the Unisys VoiceSource Express, or VSE, family of communications platforms - the high-end VSE420 and the entry-level VSE46.
The VSE420 provides an ideal solution for large telecom providers serving tens of millions of subscribers, while the VSE46 is designed for smaller providers in regions where mobile use is rapidly expanding - especially Latin America and Africa, the company said.
The Unisys VSE communications solutions help telecommunications providers grow revenue by providing integration with social media networks, advanced call control and mobile advertising, among other key capabilities. The solutions can also combine with Unisys Stealth Solution for cybersecurity to offer regional and international communications providers a secure, scalable, economical way to provide new value-added services to their consumer and enterprise customers.
Based on Unisys ClearPath server technology using high-end members of the Intel Xeon Processor family, the VSE420 and VSE46 provide highly scalable, fully redundant solutions. The platforms significantly reduce footprint and power consumption, resulting in better data center performance per watt and lower operating expenses, the company added.
According to the company, each VSE420 server can support up to 8 million subscribers, and up to 24 million subscribers in a three-system cluster. Multiple VSE clusters enable support for far larger numbers of subscribers. The VSE46 platform provides a cost-effective entry level system that supports up to 2.5 million subscribers per system. As with the VSE420, clustering provides the scalability required for growth.
"We continue to expand Unisys solutions to help telecom providers generate new revenue, while continuing to reduce cost per subscriber through powerful, highly scalable VSE systems," said Steven Chuey, vice president, global communications solution management, Unisys. "The new VSE420 platform provides scalability that our competitors are hard-pressed to match, while the new VSE46 provides the same cost-effective solution for smaller service providers. In addition, our innovative service development environment provides fast prototyping and testing so telcos can speed up the time-to-market for new subscriber services."
