BRIEF: Rancho Cordova patent-licensing firm reports quarterly loss
Mar 04, 2013 (The Sacramento Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Rancho Cordova-based Internet Patents Corp., formerly InsWeb Corp., today reported a loss of $667,000, or 9 cents per share, in its fourth quarter ended Dec. 31.
That compares with a loss of $411,000, or 5 cents per share, in last year's third quarter.
InsWeb changed its name at the end of 2011, after North Palm Beach, Fla.-based Bankrate Inc. completed its $65 million takeover of the bulk of InsWeb, including its online insurance-quote business.
Internet Patents' focus shifted to collecting fees from licensing several e-commerce and insurance patents that were not part of the Bankrate deal.
For all of 2012, Internet Patents reported a loss of $2.72 million, or 36 cents a share.
