AlienVault appoints new chief marketing officer

Mar 05, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- AlienVault, Inc., a provider of unified security management solutions, has appointed Rita Selvaggi as its chief marketing officer.

As chief marketing officer, or CMO, Selvaggi will work with AlienVault's executive team to align the global marketing, product, and sales organizations around the company's goal of delivering security visibility to the under-served mid-market, the company said.

Selvaggi has more than 25 years of experience in high technology. From 2006 through 2010, she was Senior vice president of Marketing for SolarWinds. At SolarWinds, Selvaggi served as a member of the senior executive team that built the company's disruptive model for high volume and velocity software sales to IT professionals in mid-market enterprises. Prior to joining SolarWinds, Selvaggi held executive and senior management positions at Blue Coat Systems, Permeo Technologies, 724 Solutions, pcOrder, and IBM, the company added.

Most recently, Selvaggi has served as an advisor to portfolio companies of Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) in the Bay Area, and Austin Ventures in Austin, Texas.

"Rita has had great experience in understanding the needs of IT professionals in the mid-market and will be an incredible asset to AlienVault as we continue to improve how we deliver Unified Security Management to businesses that have been neglected by the security industry," said AlienVault President and CEO, Barmak Meftah. "With our focus on providing all of the essential security capabilities in one easy-to-use and affordable solution, we have a great opportunity to bring 'enterprise-class' security to those organizations that just don't have large security teams in-house. We're very fortunate to have Rita on board to help us deliver on that promise." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
