BRIEF: Nurse pitches in at N.C. General Assembly

On behalf of the North Carolina Nurses Association, Katrina McCourt of Elm City served as nurse of the day at the General Assembly Feb. 27.
McCourt, a faculty member at Wilson Community College and a staff nurse at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, provided services such as taking vital signs, checking blood pressure and dispensing over-the-countrt drugs for headache, upset stomach and allergies to legislators and legislative staff members.
"I chose to serve as nurse of the day because it is important to be aware of how policy and laws are developed in order to have an active role and impact on the implementation of them," McCourt said.
