Businessman expands into car rentals

Local businessman Lee Eatmon has expanded his self-storage business in Wilson to include car rentals.
It's a business move he said will bring needed competition to the Wilson market.
Eatmon, a Wilson native, also added onto his company's name, which is now Storage One Self Storage, Inc with Penske Truck Leasing & Hertz Car Rental.
Employees and customers refer to it as Storage One for short.
"I expanded the front and contacted Hertz," Eatmon said.
They were interested in this market, so now Eatmon acts as an agent for the Hertz Corp.
"We actually started at the end of last year," Eatmon said.
"I can get any kind of vehicle anyone wants to rent," Eatmon said. "The response has been good. We have daily, weekly, even monthly rentals. We carry all kinds of rentals. Some people don't realize there are options."
Eatmon's primary business remains the self-storage business. Eatmon offers sizes from 5-by-10 foot to 30-by-30 foot storage units.
This is the ninth year for the business he originally bought near its infancy.
"That is the main business focus," Eatmon said.
But he also offers Penske Truck rentals and accessories when folks are moving.
The business is located at 3941 Lake Wilson Road. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
There is 24-hour recorded video surveillance for security. Eatmon describes his facility as state of the art. Each gate entry is permanently recorded and stored on a computer, according to company information. Only tenants can access the electronic gate.

He sports strong Wilson roots.
Eatmon is a 1995 graduate of Hunt High School and a graduate of East Carolina University. Both his parents live in Wilson and a brother is in business in Wilson as well.
Eatmon, 35, lives in Wilson with his wife Heather and daughter Kylie, who is 8.
