BRIEF: Tigard Police seek suspect from Monday night assault at Washington Square
Mar 05, 2013 (The Oregonian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Tigard Police are asking for the public's help in locating an assault suspect after a woman was attacked Monday night in a shopping center parking lot.
About 9:10 p.m., police were dispatched to Washington Square after a witness called 9-1-1 to report the assault.
The victim, 53, told authorities she was walking through the mall's parking lot when an unknown person came up from behind, hit her in the head with an unknown object, took her purse and ran away.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released. Police are withholding the victim's name.
Witnesses described a getaway car as a tan sedan, similar to a mid-1990s Honda Accord. A video from the mall shows possible substantial damage to the car's rear passenger door, according to Jim Wolf, spokesman for Tigard police. The video also indicates there may be more than one person involved.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Tigard Police at 503-718-2677. Tips may also be emailed to: tips@tigard-or.gov.
